Day 1 ~ Mel’s Photo Workshop

Melanie & Maria Mallozzi at Oxtongue River Rapids

Day 1

I picked up Melanie on Monday morning, and we drove from Mississauga with a first stop in mind - the famous “Webers Burgers.” We had a great lunch, had fun taking photos, and started getting to know each other. The next stop was the Independent Grocers in Huntsville to buy things my wife wouldn’t let me buy (3% milk) for my coffee and a couple of extras.

The first serious photo opportunity was the Oxtongue River Rapids, where we took in some pleasing fall colours and did some portraits. We arrived at the cottage on Oxtongue Lake in time for the sunset and a Spaghetti dinner. We caught a second wind when we discovered that there may have been some Aurora Borleas opportunity. No such opportunity presented itself, but we learned how to shoot long night exposures on our phones.

Melanie and Maria multi-tasked as excellent models and outstanding iPhone photography students. We learned some of the phone's features that are hidden from most people. They had keen eyes and took beautiful photos on their own - they already saw photo opportunities on that front. I was adding some pointers.

They were game as models and very cooperative.

Stay tuned for Melanie’s pictures coming soon.
